Map of Early Modern London

This site is administered and maintained by Dr. Janelle Jenstad, University of Victoria. It was supported by a SSHRC Standard Research Grant from 2003 to 2008, and SSHRC General Research Grants (University of Victoria) in 2010 and 2011. The project is currently funded by a SSHRC Insight Grant for 2012-2016 (PI Janelle Jenstad with Co-Applicants Martin Holmes and Stewart Arneil). Technical assistance has been funded by a Canadian Foundation for Innovation grant to TAPoR (Text Analysis Portal for Research). SSHRC has provided scholarships for TEI and database training at the Digital Humanities Summer Institute. Offices at the University of Victoria supporting The Map of Early Modern London include the Dean of Humanities, the Office of Research Services, the Humanities Computing and Media Centre (HCMC), and the Department of English. Stewart Arneil, Martin Holmes, and Greg Newton at the HCMC provide encoding expertise, database design, and training for our research assistants. Our partners are the journal Early Theatre (ed. Dr. Helen Ostovich) and the London Metropolitan Archives, London. We are also grateful to EEBO-TCP for providing the files of their transcriptions of the 1598 and 1633 texts of Stow's A Survey of London.
