Access the Index for Praxis

Introduction

The index for MoEML’s praxis allows the user to search for common terms, elements, and attributes across praxis documents. The praxis index file (praxis_index.htm) is generated through a transformation that processes <div>s in praxis documents. The transformation compiles, sorts, and groups the following:
  • Manually encoded <term>s nested in <index> elements
  • Elements (tagged as <gi>s) and attributes (tagged as @atts) referenced in documentation
  • Elements and attributes used in example code (tagged as <egXML>)
In addition to showing where a particular term, element, or attribute occurs in praxis documents, index entries for elements or attributes also include a link to corresponding CodeSharing examples and TEI-P5 Guidelines documentation.

Use the Index

If you know the term you are looking for, use CTRL+F (⌘+F on Apple computers) to navigate through the file. Otherwise, you can browse the index by either scrolling through the file or using the linked list of first letters at the top of the file. Once you find the term you are looking for, the list of pages nested beneath it will indicate where the term occurs in praxis. Click on the links to access the pages or, in the case of elements and attributes, click on the CodeSharing or TEI links to access external documentation.

Find an Item in the Document Collection

The A-Z Index of All Items in the Document Collection (azindex.htm) contains a list of all published and unpublished documents in the MoEML document collection sorted by title, document type, and @xml:id. Use this document to determine which @xml:ids are in use as well as to quickly determine if a particular person, location, or bibliographic source has been added to our document collection.

Search For Encoding Examples

Search for examples of MoEML’s TEI encoding using our CodeSharing Service. This features allows you search the entire back end of the website to see how the project employs certain elements and attributes. The program can also generate lists of used attributes and elements, as well as the namespaces used on the website.
Simply fill out the search form, hit Submit, and wait for the results to appear below.

Identify Unmapped Locations

The Agas Progress Report is a document created through XSLT which lists all locations in our document structure that are not on the Agas map. These locations fall into four categories based off of information contained within each location’s <facsimile> and <geo> elements:
  • Locations identified on the deprecated Agas map (the Star map) that have geo-coordinates;
  • Locations identified on the Star map without geo-coordinates;
  • Locations not identified on the Star map but have geo-coordinates;
  • Locations neither identified on the Star map nor have geo-coordinates.
To generate the report:
  • Make sure you have the MoEML project open in Oxygen (Project/Open Project, then locate the moeml.xpr project file in /db/data or in the root of your MoEML documents).
  • Open the file /db/data/utilities/agasProgressReport.xsl.
  • Run its default transformation (Document/Transformation/Apply Transformation Scenario(s), or click on the red triangle button () in the toolbar).
  • The report should automatically open in your browser.

Check if MoEML is Down

Down for Me or Just Everyone? is a web application that can check the availability of any URL. To check if the MoEML website is down, go to http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and enter http://mapoflondon.uvic.ca/ in the search field.
