Ludgate Hill

Ludgate Hill, also known as Fleet Hill, ran east-west from St. Paul’s Churchyard, past Ludgate, to an undetermined point before Fleet Bridge. It was the raised portion of the greater Ludgate Street leading up out of Fleet Street. The hill is labelled Flete hyll on the Agas map.
Due to Harben and Stow generally preferring the toponym Ludgate Hill to Fleet Hill and the Google map of modern London identifying the location as Ludgate Hill, we have chosen Ludgate Hill, rather than Fleet Hill, as our authority name (Harben; Google Inc.).
