St. Mary Magdalen (Bermondsey)

St. Mary Magdalen was located near the south-east corner of Bermondsey Street next to Bermondsey Abbey and just south of the area depicted on the Agas map (Noorthouck). According to John Stow, St. Mary Magdalen was a church dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene that was built by the priors of Bermondsey Abbey (Stow 1598, sig. Z4v). H.E. Malden notes that the church was almost entirely rebuilt early in the seventeenth century (Malden).
