Dudley’s House

Dudley’s House was located just north of Candlewick Street, before it meets Walbrook Street. Stow discusses Dudley’s House in his survey of Walbrook Ward:
On the backeside of two other faire houses in Walbrooke, in the raigne of Henrie the seuenth, sir Richard Empson knight, Chanceler of the Duchie of Lancaster, dwelled in the one of them, and Edmond Dudley Esquire in the other; either of them had a doore of entercourse into this Garden, wherein they met and consulted of matters at their pleasures. (Stow 1:224)
Carlin and Belcher state that the location was occupied by Edmund Dudley; confiscated at his attainder 1509; his leasehold interest granted to Richard Forster. Contents of 19 rooms inventoried 1509 (Carlin and Belcher 72).
