Bassett’s Inn

Carlin and Belcher observe that the namesake of Bassett’s Inn is Sir Ralph Basset of Drayton, who opened it in about 1360. The inn was located on the east side of Gayspur Lane, just across from where it links to Addle Street. Bassett’s Inn was still operating by 1452 (Carlin and Belcher 65).
This location has been added to the MoEML gazetteer on the authority of Carlin and Belcher’s gazetteer of 1520 London.
