Popyngay Alley

The alley was named, from 1544, after the Inn of the Abbot of Cirencester, which from 1430 was called The Popyngay; the alley is now Poppins Court (Carlin and Belcher 83).
This location has been added to the MoEML gazetteer on the authority of Carlin and Belcher’s gazetteer of 1520 London.
