Christopher Highley

Chris Highley is a Professor of English at The Ohio State University. He grew up near Manchester in the north of England. After studying English at the University of Sussex, he earned his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Southern California and Stanford University (1991) respectively. He specializes in Early Modern literature, culture, and history. He is the author of Shakespeare, Spenser, and the Crisis in Ireland (Cambridge University Press, 1997) and Catholics Writing the Nation in Early Modern Britain and Ireland (Oxford University Press, 2008), and co-editor of Henry VIII and his Afterlives (Cambridge University Press, 2009). He is currently working on two unrelated projects: the posthumous image of King Henry VIII, and the history of the Blackfriars neighborhood in early modern London.
