Thames Street was the longest street in early modern London, running east-west from the ditch around the Tower of London in the east to St. Andrew’s Hill and Puddle Wharf in the west, almost the complete span of the city within the walls.

Old Fish Street Hill ran north-south between Old Fish Street and Thames

(Stow 2:4) and Saint Mary Mounthaunt Lane
(Stow 2:5). The
latter name seems to come from a very small church
(Stow 2:4) of
that name and an auncient house and large roomes builded of stone and timber which sometime belonged
to the Mounthauntes in Norfolke
(Stow 2:4), both on that street.
The Agas Map shows the church of St. Mary Somerset blocking
the end of the street.
