Gentlemen of the Privy Chamber

The Gentlemen of the Privy Chamber were a group of gentle-born courtiers who had access to the private section of the king’s royal residence. While all of the Gentlemen of the Privy Chamber enjoyed royal favour, the courtier who served as the groom of the stool held the most intimate relationship with the king (Riordan).
