               For convenience, we began with the TEI-XML P4 file of the EEBO-TCP transcription of
                  <idno type="STC">STC 23341</idno>(<idno type="TCP">TCP A13049</idno>), available
               on <ref target="https://github.com/textcreationpartnership/A13049">GitHub</ref>). The
               names of the EEBO-TCP transcribers are unknown. <name ref="PERS1.xml#SCHA2">Paul
                  Schaffner</name> edited the original EEBO-TCP markup in or before <date notAfter="2012">2012</date>. <name ref="PERS1.xml#RAHT1">Sebastian Rahtz</name> created
               the TEI Stylesheets to convert the EEBO-TCP file to TEI-P5 in or before 2012. <name ref="PERS1.xml#HOLM3">Martin Holmes</name> downloaded the XML file from the GitHub
               repository. <name ref="PERS1.xml#HOLM3">Martin Holmes</name> processed the file
               programmatically to bring it in line with MoEML’s TEI customization. Holmes added
               proleptic catchwords (based on the first word on the next page) and converted short s
               back to long s based on predictable patterns. <name type="org" ref="ORGS1.xml#TEAM1">MoEML
                  Research Assistants</name> at the <name type="org" ref="ORGS1.xml#UVIC3">University of
                  Victoria</name> performed the following additional tasks: supplied content for the
               gaps left by the EEBO-TCP transcribers; checked the transcription against digital
               surrogates of the <name type="org" ref="ORGS1.xml#UVIC3">UVic</name> copy and against the
               copy itself; corrected the proleptic catchwords where necessary; transcribed the
               formeworks; added links to digital surrogates; and tagged all people, places, and
               dates. The text was then checked by Editor <name ref="PERS1.xml#JENS1">Janelle
                  Jenstad</name>.</p>

               Mayor, cauſed parte of the <ref target="WALL2.xml">wall</ref> aboute the Citie of
                  <lb/><ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="LOND5.xml">London</ref>, <label place="margin-right"><hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_IR">P</hi>attent,</label> to
               be rapayred, to wit, betwixt <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="ALDG1.xml">Aldgate</ref> and <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="ALDE3.xml">Alderſgate</ref><lb/> he alſo cauſed the <ref target="MOOR1.xml">Morefielde</ref>
               to bee ſearched for clay, and willed<lb/> bricke to be made, and brent there, he
               likewiſe cauſed chalke to bee<lb/> brought out of <hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R">Kent</hi> and to be brent into lime in the ſame <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="MOOR1.xml">More<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>field</ref>, for more furtherance of the worke. Then the <name rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" type="org" ref="ORGS1.xml#SKIN2">Skinners</name>,<lb/> to
               begin in the Eaſt, made that parte of the <ref target="WALL2.xml">wall</ref>, betwixt
                  <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="ALDG1.xml">Al<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>gate</ref> and <ref target="BEVI1.xml"><hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R">Buries</hi> marke</ref> towardes <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="BISH2.xml">Biſhopſgate</ref>, as may appeare<lb/> by their armes in thrée
               places fixed there, the Mayor with his cō<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>pany of the <name type="org" ref="ORGS1.xml#DRAP3">Drapers</name> made all that part, betwixt <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="BISH2.xml">Biſhopſgate</ref> &amp;
                  <lb/><ref target="ALLH1.xml"><hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R">Alhallowes</hi>
                  Church</ref> in the ſame, and from <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="ALLH1.xml">Alhallowes</ref> towards<lb/> the <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="POST1.xml">Poſterne</ref>. A great part of
               the ſame <ref target="WALL2.xml">wal</ref> called <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="MOOR2.xml">Moregate</ref> was<lb/> repayred by the executors of <name ref="PERS1.xml#CROS2">Sir <hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R">Iohn Croſby</hi></name>,
               late Alderman, as<lb/> may appeare by his Armes, ſtanding in two places there.
               Other<lb/> Companies repayred the reſt of the <ref target="WALL2.xml">wal</ref> to
               the <hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R">Poſterne</hi> of <ref rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" target="CRIP1.xml">Criple<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>gate</ref>. The <name rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R" type="org" ref="ORGS1.xml#GOLD3">Goldſmiths</name> repayred frō <hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R"><ref target="CRIP1.xml">Criplegate</ref>, towards <ref target="ALDE2.xml">Alderſ<lb rend="hidden"/>gate</ref></hi>, &amp; there the work ceaſed. The circuite of
               the <ref target="WALL2.xml">wall of <hi rendition="#stow_1598_WALL2_R">London</hi></ref><label place="margin-right">Circuit of the <lb/><ref target="WALL2.xml">Wall</ref> from<lb/> the eaſt to the<lb/> weſt.</label><lb/>
