The names of the EEBO-TCP transcribers are unknown. <name ref="mol:SCHA2">Paul Schaffner</name> edited the original EEBO-TCP markup in or before <date notAfter="2012">2012</date>. <name ref="mol:RAHT1">Sebastian Rahtz</name> created the TEI Stylesheets to convert the EEBO-TCP file to TEI-P5 in or before 2012. <name ref="mol:HOLM3">Martin Holmes</name> downloaded the XML file from the GitHub repository. <name ref="mol:HOLM3">Martin Holmes</name> processed the file programmatically to bring it in line with MoEML’s TEI customization. Holmes added proleptic catchwords (based on the first word on the next page) and converted short s back to long s based on predictable patterns. <name type="org" ref="mol:TEAM1">MoEML Research Assistants</name> at the <name type="org" ref="mol:UVIC3">University of Victoria</name> performed the following additional tasks: supplied content for the gaps left by the EEBO-TCP transcribers; checked the transcription against digital surrogates of the <name type="org" ref="mol:UVIC3">UVic</name> copy and against the copy itself; corrected the proleptic catchwords where necessary; transcribed the formeworks; added links to digital surrogates; and tagged all people, places, and dates.                   placed<lb/> there at a gate, entering to a large Court, wherein are diuers<lb/> fayre and
                  large ſhops well furniſhed with brode clothes, and o<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ther draperies of all ſortes to be ſolde, and
                  this is the fartheſt weſt<lb/> part of this warde.</p>
               <p>On the South ſide of this ſtreete from <ref target="mol:BUDG1">Budge Row</ref>,
                  lieth a<lb/> lane turning downe by the weſt gate of the <ref target="mol:TOWE8">Tower
                     Royall</ref>, and<lb/> to the ſouth end of the ſtone wall, beyond the ſaid gate is
                  of this<lb/> ward, and is accounted a parte of the <ref target="mol:TOWE2">Royall
                     ſtreete</ref>, againſt<lb/> this weſt<label place="margin-left"><ref target="mol:TURN2">Turnebaſe<lb/> lane</ref>.</label> gate of the <ref target="mol:TOWE8">Tower
                     Royall</ref>, is one other lane, that run<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>neth weſt to <ref target="mol:CORD3">Cordwainer ſtreete</ref>, and this is called <ref target="mol:TURN2">Turnebaſe<lb/> lane</ref>: on the ſouth ſide whereof is a peece of <ref target="mol:WRIN1">Wringwren lane</ref><lb/> to the northweſt corner of <ref target="mol:STTH3"><hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">S. Thomas</hi> church the Apoſtle</ref>. Thē<lb/> againe out
                  of the high ſtreete called <ref target="mol:WATL1">Wathling</ref>, is one other
                  ſtreet<lb/> which runneth thwart the ſame, and this is <ref target="mol:CORD3">Cordwainer ſtreete</ref><lb/><label place="margin-left"><ref target="mol:CORD3">Cordwainer<lb/> ſtreete</ref>.</label> whereof the whole warde
                  taketh name, this ſtreete beginneth<lb/> by <ref target="mol:CHEA5">weſt Cheape</ref>

   <p>At the vpper end of <ref target="mol:BOWL1">Hoſiar lane</ref> towards <ref target="mol:CHEA5">weſt chepe</ref>, is the fayre<lb/> <ref target="mol:STMA47">pariſh church of <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">S. Mary Bow</hi></ref>, <label place="margin-right"><ref target="mol:STMA47">Pariſh church<lb/> of S. <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_IR">M</hi>ary<lb/>
                     Bowe</ref>.</label> called <ref rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" target="mol:STMA47">de Arcubus</ref>,
                  of the ſtone<lb/> Arches or Bowes on the top of the ſtéeple, or bell Tower thereof,<lb/>
                  which arching was aſwell on the old ſtéeple, as on the new for no<lb/> other part of
                  the church ſéemeth to haue béene arched at any time,<lb/> yet hath the ſaid church
                  neuer beene knowne by any other name,<lb/> then <ref rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" target="mol:STMA47">S. Mary
                     <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_IR">B</hi>ow</ref>, or <ref rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" target="mol:STMA47">le Bow</ref>: neither
                  is that church ſo called of<lb/> the court there kept, but the ſaid Court taketh name
                  of the place<lb/> wherein it is kept, &amp; is called the <name type="org" ref="mol:ARCH14">court of the arches</name>, but of
                  what<lb/> antiquitie or continuation I cannot declare.</p>
               <p>This church is of <ref target="mol:CORD1">Cordwayner ſtréet ward</ref>, and for
                  diuers ac<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>cidents happening there hath beene
                  made more famous then any<lb/> other pariſh church of the whole Citie or ſuburbes.
                  Firſt we reade<lb/> that in the yeare <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R"><date when-custom="1090" datingMethod="mol:julianSic" calendar="mol:julianSic">1090</date></hi>. and the <date when-custom="r_WILL2_03" datingMethod="mol:regnal" calendar="mol:regnal">thirde of <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:WILL2">VVilliam
                     Rufus</name></date>, by<lb/> tempeſt of wind the roofe of the <ref target="mol:STMA47">church of <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">S. Mary Bow</hi></ref> in <ref target="mol:CHEA1">Chepe</ref><lb/> was ouerturned,<label place="margin-right">Roofe of <ref target="mol:STMA47">Bow<lb/> church</ref> ouer<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>turned by<lb/> tempeſt.</label> wherewith ſome perſons were
                  ſlaine, and foure<lb/> of the Raſters of <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">26</hi>. foote in length with ſuch violence were
                     pitch<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ed in the ground of the high
                  ſtréete, that ſcantly foure foote of them<lb/> remained aboue ground, which were faine
                  to be cut euen with the<lb/> ground, becauſe they coulde not bee plucked out (for the
                  Citie of<lb/> <ref rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" target="mol:LOND5">London</ref> was not then paued.)</p>
               <p>In the yeare <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R"><date when-custom="1196" datingMethod="mol:julianSic" calendar="mol:julianSic">1196</date></hi>. <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:OSBE1">VVilliam Fitz Oſbert</name>, a ſeditious
                     trai<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>tor, tooke the ſteeple af <ref target="mol:STMA47">Bow</ref>,<label place="margin-right"><ref target="mol:STMA47">Bow</ref> ſteéple<lb/> fortified with<lb/> munitions.</label> and
                  fortified it with munitions and<lb/> victuailles, but it was aſſaulted, and
                     <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:OSBE1">William</name> with his complices<lb/> were taken, though not without bloodſhed,
                  for hee<label place="margin-right">A falſe accuſer<lb/> of
                     his elder<lb/> brother in the<lb/> end was han<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ged:
                     God a<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>mend or<lb/> ſhortly ſend<lb/> ſuch an end to<lb/>
                     ſuch falſe<lb/> brethren.</label> was forced by<lb/> fire and ſmoke to forſake the church, and then by the Iudges
                     con<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>demned, he was by the héeles drawne

                  nine of his fellowes. Such was the end of<lb/> this deceauer, a man of an euill life, a

                     firſt</name></date>. <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:DUCK1">Laurence Ducket</name> Goldſmith, hauing<lb/>
                  grieuouſly wounded one <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:CREP2">Raffe Crepin</name> in <ref target="mol:CHEA5">weſt
                     Chepe</ref>, fledde into<lb/> <ref target="mol:STMA47">Bowe church</ref>, into the
                  which in the night time entred certaine e<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>uill perſons, friendes to the ſaid <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:CREP2">Raffe</name>, and ſlew the ſaid

                  by the<lb/> window, as if he had hanged himſelf, and ſo was it found by inqui<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ſition: for the which fact <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:DUCK1">Laurence
                     <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_IR">D</hi>ucket</name>
                   being drawne by the<lb/> féete was
                  buried in a ditch without the Citie, but ſhortly after by<lb/> relation of a boy, who
                  lay with the ſaid <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:DUCK1">Laurence</name> at the time of<lb/> his death, and had hid him
                  there for feare, the truth of the matter<lb/> was diſcloſed, for the which cauſe a
                  certain woman named <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:ATTE1">Alice</name>,<lb/> that was chiefe cauſer of the ſaid miſchiefe
                  was burned, and to the<lb/> number of <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">16</hi>. men were drawne and hanged beſides others,
                  that<lb/> being richer, after long impriſonment were hanged by the purſe.</p>
               <p>The church was interdicted,<label place="margin-left"><ref target="mol:STMA47">Bow Church</ref><lb/> interdicted.</label> the dores and
                  windowes were<lb/> ſtopped vp with thornes, but <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:DUCK1">Laurence</name> was taken vp, and
                     ho<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>neſtly buried in the churchyarde.</p>
               <p>This <ref target="mol:STMA47">pariſh church of <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">S. Mary</hi> Bowe</ref> by
                  meane of incroch<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ment and building of houſes
                  without, wanteth roome in their<lb/> Church yard for burial of their dead. <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:RODH1">Iohn
                     Rotham</name> or <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:RODH1">Rodham</name><lb/> citizen and Taylor, by his teſtament dated the
                  yeare <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R"><date when-custom="1465" datingMethod="mol:julianSic" calendar="mol:julianSic">1465</date></hi>. gaue<lb/> to the Parſon and Church wardens there for euer, a certaine
                     gar<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>den in <ref target="mol:BOWL1">Hoſiar
                     lane</ref>, to be a churchyard, which ſo continued neare<lb/> <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">100</hi>. yeares. But now
                  is builded on and is a priuate mans houſe.<lb/> The old ſtéeple of this church was by
                  little and little reedified, and<lb/> new builded vp, at the leaſt ſo much as was
                  fallen downe, many<lb/> men giuing ſummes<label place="margin-left"><ref target="mol:STMA47">Bow</ref> bell to<lb/> be rong night<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ly at nine of<lb/> the clocke.</label> of money to the furtherance thereof, ſo that
                  at<lb/> length, to wit, in the yeare <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R"><date when-custom="1469" datingMethod="mol:julianSic" calendar="mol:julianSic">1469</date></hi>. it was ordayned by a common<lb/> counſaile, that

                  according to the truſt of <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:LONG8">Reginald <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_IR">L</hi>ongdon</name>, gaue<lb/> to the Parſon and
                  churchwardens of <ref target="mol:STMA47"><hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">S. Mary</hi> Bowe</ref>, two tene<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ments with the apurtenances, ſince made into
                  one, in <ref target="mol:BOWL1">Hoſiar lane</ref>,<lb/> then ſo called, to the maintenance of <ref target="mol:STMA47">Bowe</ref> bell, the ſame to

                  lanthornes, fiue in number, to wit, one at each corner, and one<lb/> on the top in the
                  middle: vpon the arches were alſo afterward fini<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ſhed of ſtone, brought from <hi rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R">Cane</hi> in

                  this <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:COPL2">Copland</name><lb/> gaue the great Bell, which made the fift in the ring, and to
                  be cal<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>led the <ref target="mol:STMA47">Bow</ref> bell, and ſo to bee vſed
                  to bee rong nightly at nine of<lb/> the clocke. I haue alſo beene informed, that this
                  bell was firſt<lb/> rong as a knell at the buriall of the ſame <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:COPL2">Copland</name>. It
                     ſée<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>meth that the lanthornes on the top
                  of this ſtéeple, were meant<lb/> to haue béene glaſed, and lights in them to haue béene
                  placed night<lb type="hyphenInWord"/>ly in the winter, whereby
                  trauailers to the Cittie might haue the<lb/> better ſight thereof, and not to miſſe of

                  in an houſe for that<lb/> purpoſe prepared in the churchyard, but that ſchoole being
                  decayed<lb/> as others about this cittie: the ſchoole houſe was let out for rent,<lb/> in

                  ſtandeth a tombe, eleuate &amp; arched, of ſome vnknowne<lb/> founder. <name rendition="#stow_1598_CORD1_R" ref="mol:BUKE1">Ade de
                     Buke</name> Hatter glaſed the chappell and moſt parte<lb/> of the church, and was
