                <p>Directly translating to <soCalled>The <ref target="mol:CAME1">Chamber of Diana</ref>,</soCalled> <soCalled>Camera Dianæ</soCalled> or <soCalled><ref target="mol:CAME1">Camera Diana</ref></soCalled> was located in <ref target="mol:CAST2">Castle Baynard Ward</ref> near the <ref target="mol:DOCT1">Doctors’ Commons</ref> by <ref target="mol:BENN1">Paul’s Wharf Hill</ref>. In his edition of <name ref="mol:STOW6">Stow</name>’s <ref type="bibl" target="mol:BLOM21">Survey</ref>, <name ref="mol:STRY2">John Strype</name> conveys that the illustrious building is remembered in light of <name ref="mol:HENR6">Henry II</name>:
                    <cit><quote>Upon <ref target="mol:BENN1">Paul’s-Wharf-Hill</ref>, within a great Gate, and belonging to that Gate next to <ref target="mol:DOCT1">Doctors-Commons</ref>, are many air Tenements; which in their Leases made from the Dean and Chapter go by the Name or Title of <ref target="mol:CAME1">Camera Dianae</ref>, i.e. <ref target="mol:CAME1">Diana’s Chamber</ref>. So denominated from a spacious Building, that, in the time of <name ref="mol:HENR2">Henry the Second</name>, stood where they are now standing. In this Camera, the arched and vaulted Structure, full of intricate Ways and Windings, this <name ref="mol:HENR6">Henry the Second</name>, as some Time he did at Woodstock, kept, or was supposed to have kept, that jewel of his heart, fair <name ref="mol:CLIF16">Rosamond</name>: She, whom he there called <foreign xml:lang="la">Rosa mundi</foreign>; and here, by the Name of Diana. And from thence had this House that Title. To this Day are Remains, and some evident Testifications of tedious Turnings and Windings, as also of a Passage under Ground, from this House to <ref target="mol:BAYN1">Castle Baynard</ref>.
